Montenegro is a land of contrasts and natural beauty, a fascinating combination in which the exquisite and the monumental intertwine, just like in childhood memories in which reality seems to shine with living colours. Three colours dominate the Montenegrin landscape: blue, emerald green and iron grey, amazingly combined and interwoven. Looking at this land from the sea seems to evoke the philosopher Kant's words: "Tragedy unleashes the sense of the sublime." That is the feeling one has looking at Lovcen's peaks from the Medieval town of Kotor. Going from the island of Sveti Stefan to the peaks of Durmitor and Crno Jezero (Black Lake) seems like walking through eternity: two beauties fused into one. It is no wonder that many famous European botanists and geographers disregarded their exploratory missions and became passionate travel writers while visiting Montenegro. If you decide to learn more about this small but fabulous destination, we have gathered helpful information about the country's history, climate, geography, customs, and gastronomy.

Montenegro can be divided into three regions: Northern, Central, and Southern, according to different geographical characteristics, climate, and, of course, the tourist products it offers. All three are worth visiting; there are five national parks in this small land in the three regions: three in Northern Montenegro, one of which is a World Heritage UNESCO site, and two in Central and Southern Montenegro.
But besides the wild beauty, it is in the people that are worth getting to know! The people of Montenegro are only about 620,000, but they have an enviable tradition of hospitality and tolerance. This corner of the Balkans has always been the land of irreconcilable opposites. A territory of petite size holds wildly different climates, mountains and sea, black pine and palm trees, various ethnic groups and three faiths - Orthodoxy, Catholicism and Islam. Although modern times are changing the situation and the social tissue, in an ideal voyage to discover the true nature of the land, you will be able to meet the descendants of the proud captains of the Boka Kotorska, as well as the indomitable Montenegrins with a spirit as free as a hawk's. And it is this spirit of Montenegro and its people that is sure to capture your heart!
