Podgorica is the administrative capital of Montenegro, its cultural and economic centre. A city with turbulent history and a few landmarks that can showcase its past is known as a city with many names: from Roman Birziminium, to Slavic Ribnica and Podgorica, it was named Titograd, after the communist leader of Yugoslavia - Tito, only to be renamed to Podgorica at the end of 20th century.

Podgorica was always on the crossroad of caravans and armies - from the period of Illyrian-Roman wars, it has witnessed Greek travelers, Roman legionnaires, Byzantine messengers, Serbian noblemen, Venetian merchants, Turkish invaders, Montenegrin warriors, Fascist occupiers and Yugoslavian liberators. It was never a big city and today it is very hard to imagine all these centuries and changes as not many of the monuments of any kind are evident at present.  The armies have destroyed it, and people have rebuilt it many times but Podgorica suffered terribly during the Second World War from more than 70 bombings, which is the main reason why the city does not have much historical or architectural heritage to show as some other, much smaller cities or even villages in Montenegro.

This tour will take you to some of the places that remained from the previous ages but it will also show you the life today in Montenegro and future prospects.

The tour starts from the fountain at the Square of the Republic, after gathering and meeting with the guide we will walk towards Stara Varos - old part of Podgorica.

The tour will take us around city centre where we will visit:
