Climbing up the St Giovanni Fortress - City Tour of Old Town of Kotor
Old Town of Kotor with its medieval walls is located at the farthest end of the Bay of Kotor, almost pressed into the foot of Lovcen mountain. The specific atmosphere and architecture made Kotor a unique place in the world, a fact recognised by UNESCO when the organization placed the old part of the town on its list of World Heritage Sites.

Dating from the period of Illyrian-Roman wars, Kotor developed into an important commercial and artistic centre in the Middle Ages. Many empires battled for control over the city throughout the centuries: from being an autonomous city of the Byzantine Empire, free city of medieval Serbia, and city under protection of Venice Republic just to be occupied later by France and then Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, until Kotor finally became part of Yugoslavia.

You will meet our guide at previously arranged time in front of the Main Gate (the Sea Gate). The climbing up the St Giovanni Fortress begins at the entrance to the fortress inside of the Old Town, from Square of Green Salad, near the Southern Gate.
